International Armor Corporation manufactures two types of K9 armor, the NIJ Level 2 standard ballistic and the NIJ Level 2 stab/ballistic vest. Both vests are very lightweight and have a streamlined minimalist design with no straps, buckles, etc. This prevents the dog from getting snagged/tangled up and also makes it difficult for the assailant to engage with the dog.

The Standard Ballistic Level 2 vest contains ballistic material commonly found in police vests. It is rated for ballistic threats only. Although it has anti-stab properties it is not certified under the California ice pick test.

The Stab/Ballistic vest provides the same ballistic protection plus is rated to stop sharp items such as knives, ice picks etc.. The stab ballistic material is a much tighter weave than the standard ballistic material, this is marked difference between the two vest types. The stab/ballistic material is more expensive, thus is not as commonly used by police officers (doesn’t fit most department’s budget unfortunately).  Unfortunately, in the case of a K9 officer, the threat of knives or sharp objects is much higher since the dog must physically engage the “bad guy”.  The K-9 One™ vest stab material used is different from what you will usually find on the market as it is strictly woven and contains no laminates; thus providing a much lighter and flexible vest.

K-9 One™ Level 2 Standard Ballistic $625.00 plus S&H ($15)
K-9 One™ Level 2 Stab/Ballistic $825.00 plus S&H ($15)

Approximately 90% of the K-9s are outfitted with the regular size (60-105lbs), however if the K9’s weight is over 105 pounds there is an XL vest and likewise a small vest for K9s under 60 lbs (e.g. Belgian Malinois).
